Gifting better days with plants, flowers and nature.
Just Because Bunches is a small, community-focused, non-profit initiative based in Bestwood Village, Nottinghamshire.
We grow flowers, give away bouquets and house plants and bring people together through gardening and nature, with the simple aim of make someone's day a little brighter, easier, to put a smile on someones face who is struggling or to give them an environment where they can temporarily forget that struggle.
We believe that small acts of kindness can make a real difference, particularly for people experiencing loneliness, poor mental health, grief or difficult times in their lives. What began with growing flowers and giving away bunches has developed into something much bigger, with plans to create more opportunities for people to enjoy the benefits of gardening, being outdoors and connecting with their local community
At the heart of Just Because Bunches is something very simple. Suprising people who could do with a little kindness by delivering free bouquets.
We grow seasonal flowers locally in Bestwood Village, handpick them and create natural, garden-style bouquets to gift to people experiencing difficult times who are nominated through our website.
It might be someone struggling with their mental health, someone who is feeling isolated, or somebody going through a particularly difficult period. They don't need to be celebrating anything or have a special occasion.
Sometimes, it's simply nice to know that somebody is thinking of you.
Our bouquets are a small gesture, but one that we hope brings a smile, a moment of happiness and a reminder that someone cares.
Gardening is about much more than growing beautiful flowers.
Spending time outdoors, working with plants and watching things grow can provide a welcome break from everyday pressures. Gardening offers opportunities for physical activity, creativity, mindfulness and a sense of achievement, all of which can contribute to better mental wellbeing.
At Just Because Bunches, we want to share those benefits with people who might not otherwise have the opportunity to experience them.
Our flowers are grown as part of Delilah's Allotment Garden, where growing sustainably, encouraging wildlife and working with the seasons are important parts of what we do.
Whether it's growing a sunflower from seed, picking a bunch of flowers or simply enjoying a quiet moment surrounded by nature, we believe that everyone should have the opportunity to experience the garden in their own way.
We're developing opportunities for local children to experience gardening, food growing and the natural world through practical, hands-on activities.
Working towards sessions with local schools and autistic children, we want to create welcoming experiences that encourage curiosity, creativity and confidence without unnecessary pressure or expectations.
Our plans include sensory nature activities, planting seeds, growing fruit and vegetables, exploring different textures and scents, and giving children the opportunity to pick and enjoy produce they have helped to grow.
Gardens offer so many opportunities for sensory discovery, from the smell of herbs and the feel of different leaves to watching pollinators and discovering where our food comes from. We want these activities to be enjoyable, flexible and accessible, recognising that every child experiences the world differently. Through our developing community partnerships and the Tesco Stronger Starts fruit and vegetable grants, we hope to help more children experience the benefits of spending time outdoors and learning where their food comes from.
Just Because Bunches has grown through the kindness and support of people in and around Bestwood Village.
Alongside gifting flowers, we raise funds through selling locally grown bouquets, houseplants, seasonal plants and other garden-inspired products.
Our roadside flower stand and community events help us keep the project going, while creating opportunities to meet local people, share what we're growing and talk about the importance of mental wellbeing. We also hope to build more relationships with local schools, community organisations and businesses so that the benefits of the project can reach more people.
We're a small initiative, but we believe that meaningful community projects don't have to start big. Sometimes they begin with a handful of seeds, a bunch of flowers and people willing to help one another, we are looking to grow our community coffee mornings to regular events to give people somewhere to come to, chat and combat social isolation.
Every plant and bouquet sold through Just Because Bunches helps support our non-profit work.
From seasonal garden flowers and indoor plants to festive wreaths and other handmade creations, our fundraising is rooted in the things we love growing and making.
Rather than relying entirely on donations, we want to build a project that can support itself through plant sales, fundraising activities and local community involvement.
When you buy something from us, you're not just taking home flowers or a plant. You're helping us grow more flowers to give away, develop community activities and reach people who might benefit from a little extra kindness.
Our long-term vision is to develop Just Because Bunches into a wider nature-based wellbeing initiative.
As the project grows, we'd love to offer more opportunities for people experiencing loneliness, stress and mental health difficulties to spend time in a peaceful, supportive outdoor environment.
We hope to develop accessible gardening activities, nature-based wellbeing sessions and opportunities for people to connect with others through shared experiences outdoors.
We're also working towards the longer-term ambition of introducing accessible, non-profit counselling services, supported by appropriate professional training and qualifications.
These are future plans rather than services we currently offer, but they are an important part of what we're working towards.
We want Just Because Bunches to grow naturally, at a pace that allows us to give every part of the project the care and attention it deserves.
There are lots of ways to support Just Because Bunches.
You can purchase flowers or plants from our fundraising stalls, make a donation, support our local events, share our work or help us connect with people and organisations who could benefit from what we do.
And if you know somebody who could do with a bunch of flowers and a reminder that someone cares, we'd love to hear from you.
Because sometimes, the smallest gesture can make the biggest difference.
